Breaking Silos: Building The Shock Team
Registration for the pre-conference event is now closed.
We’re excited to announce the launch of our Pre-Symposium Conference — a dynamic, hands-on experience designed to help you build and strengthen your community Shock Team.
Join physicians, nurses, perfusionists, and administrators as we dive into what it takes to create a successful, high-performing team that delivers exceptional care for critically ill patients — all while maintaining strong outcomes and financial sustainability.
The program also features interactive training sessions in device cannulation and management, tailored for cardiac surgeons and cardiologists. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect, learn, and lead your team to the next level of shock care!

Axillary IABP insertion
-
Axillary ECMO
-
Femoral ECMO
-
Axillary Impella 5.5 implantation

Hands-on Stations:
-
Station 1 (Proctors: Ismael Salas, Duc Pham, Manish Patel): Two cadavers for axillary cutdown, graft placement, and Impella 5.5 insertion under fluoroscopic and TEE guidance via C-arm (Cardiac/Vascular Surgeons).
-
Station 2 (Proctors: Mehmet Akay, Jay Patel): Two cadavers for axillary VA-ECMO placement with graft insertion under fluoroscopic guidance if needed via C-arm (Cardiac/Vascular Surgeons).
-
Station 3 (Proctors: Arvind Bhimaraj, Rayan YousefZai, Allison Dupont, Marwan Jumean): Two cadavers for axillary IABP placement under fluoroscopic guidance followed by femoral VA-ECMO placement as a bailout strategy (Interventional Cardiologists).
